Scouts, cubs and venturers from Fairlight/Manly, harbord and Balgowlah participated in the world record stargazing attempt in conjunction with the ABC stargazing programme. We had a total of 127 that watched the moon through telescopes for 10 minutes to hopefully break the world record.
Scouts tried their hand at shooting small bore rifles at the 50m range in Manly Vale.
One of the highlights of the year for scouts is ScoutHike. This year, the Night Owls patrol came 15th out of 213 patrols and the Bayview-Fairlight Manly activity base came second out of about 30 bases.
A big ANZAC Day memorial this year with Scouts camping overnight at Manly Dam, Venturers marching with Harbord Scouts at Brookvale. Then finally the entire Fairlight/Manly Group marching at the Manly Ceremony. Venturer and Scout representatives of the Group, as well as Balgowlah Cubs, presented the wreath at the Manly Cenotaph on behalf of Scouts NSW.
