Scouts showed off their culinary skills. Each patrol had to prepare two dishes of their choice for the leaders to judge – shopping, setting up camping stoves, cooking and cleaning up all in two hours! The food was yummy with freshly made pesto, guacamole and even ice cream! Leaders favourite was the prawn fried rice. Scouts favourite had to be the chocolate fondue which was dived on by everyone.[nggallery id=21]
ScoutHike
Last weekend two of our scout patrols took part in the annual ScoutHike camp along with about 1300 other scouts and leaders. They competed against 173 patrols navigating their way independently through the forest between activity bases scoring points along the way.
Photos show our scouts visiting the Captain Blackbeard base run by Bayview Scout Troop. There they became pirates, avoided crocodiles to board ship, raised the Jolly Roger, walked the plank and jumped blind into shark infested water. If they survived that and the sword fight they searched for gold (edible gold) in the spooky graveyard and fired water cannon to celebrate their success.

Deep Pass Canyons and Caves
A group of Scouts along with a couple of younger Cubs spent the weekend camping at Deep Pass caving, canyoning and scrambling up the pagodas. After a short hike in, we set up camp, told stories and sang around the campfire at night. Shimmying through caves and then getting wet climbing up through the canyons with a spectacular jump down a waterfall into the chilly water to get the adrenaline going.

Narrabeen Campfire
1st Narrabeen is a new Cub Pack starting out with just a few new Cubs. So the Pack decided to hold a joint meeting to end the term. The joined Packs made up nearly 40 Cubs which made for a fantastic Scout Campfire. They also made damper and cooked on the coals.
Songs, snags, damper and a new Cub invested. An excellent way to end a great term!
Conservation Camp
The Cubs headed up to Ingleside Scout Camp for the weekend to learn a out conservation issues and to work towards their Conservation Special Interest Badge and the level 2 Animals and Birds badge.
A great way to finish that off is a trip to Featherdale Wildlife Santuary!
The Cubs had an excellent time and gained two badges as well!!
Cubs and Scouts on The Block!
The Group held a fund-raising Sausage Sizzle with the help of Mitre 10. Members of “The Block” TV show were the highlight – the Mark, Duncan and Dean team. The Cubs and Scouts worked hard for the night, serving up snags and watching the show.
Sirius Cup 2013
The Cubs had a great time at the 63rd Sirius Cup. Over 20 Cub Packs took part, coming from all over the Sydney Districts. The Cubs did very well in the U10 C4 and C2, and the U9 C2.
They also managed to have a fantastic time !!!

The Scouts had a night of learning the basics of fencing with a coach from Manly Musketeers Fencing Academy.[nggallery id=16]
