Cubs take over the Manly Sea Life Sanctuary

The Cubs went on a excursion to the Sea Life Sanctuary.  With the whole sanctuary to themselves, they were treated to an excellent guided tour and education program.

This covered the Little Penguin exhibition – most of the Cubs have also been doing Project Penguin work at school, they almost knew as much as the guides.

After a sausage sizzle, they then went on the night time tour of the main aquarium – in the dark!  Sharks and Stingrays look very impressive in the dark, too. After the Sharks 2 Dinner with the fish 2 On the rock 2 Under the Sea 2

William Tell tryouts

The Cubs practice their archery skills with the Warringah Archers at Cromer. One of the constant favourite activities for the Cubs. Some of them are scarily accurate.

James Craig Tall Ships

A big group of Cubs and Scouts spent a night aboard the James Craig Tall Ship.  Some of the things we did were sleep in hammocks under the deck, swab the deck, hoist a sail, learn about navigation, pulleys and knots.  We saw the captain’s cabin and saloon too.

Canoe Course Expedition

Eight scouts and two leader joined several other groups to complete the Level 2 Canoeing Course at Brisbane Waters over the weekend.  With barrels packed with camping gear and food we set off to explore the area in a smoky haze from the bushfires further west.  With a ditch and recovery exercise in deep water done by all during the lunch stop on Day 2, we all received our Anchor badges.
